SOL- Day Three- Scrabble Is Not Words with Friends

Scrabble is not Words with Friends

Scrabble is the feel of the smooth wooden tiles, uniformly shaded and shaved.

Scrabble is the clicking of tiles on the rack as you replace the winning ones, wishing silently for the exotic ones and the common.

Scrabble is the glares at your fellow word addict as he wastes that coveted triple word score with a three-letter excuse.

Scrabble is drumming fingers as you wait for the contemplative competitor reaching for that one letter combination just beyond reach.

Words with Friends is flashy and universal, immediate and delayed, impersonal and isolated, unheard goading and groaning.

  1. WELCOME to our writing community!

I know I like Scrabble better than Words with Friends because of the tactile nature and the fact that you can see your opponent. That said, I like that I can take a break for 10 minutes during the day and just think about words any time anywhere. I guess that’s why I like WWF.
